Postseason Predictions: The Big Questions

xlixThe Seahawks just harassed the Broncos, and the questions pile up, such as can the Seahawks win again, will Peyton Manning win a title, and will players like RG3 and Mike Vick make a run in the playoffs. I will answer all of those questions, and my Super Bowl XLIX Championship Preview.

Will The Seahawks Win Again?

There are 2 things that they will need to do if they want to win. First, they need to resign Richard Sherman, Percy Harvin, Earl Thomas, and Kam Chancellor. These 4 guys came up huge in the Super Bowl, and without them, the hopes are washed away. Second, they need to beat the San Francisco 49ers. Richard Sherman himself said that San Fran is ‘the 2nd-best team in the NFL,’ and also that the game against Colin Kaepernick and Michael Crabtree was ‘the real Super Bowl.’

Will Peyton Win Another Title?

No. Manning is going to lose core players on offense and defense, such as Knowshon Moreno, Eric Decker, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are possibly on their way out. The loss is something that will definitely lure them to get out of Denver.

Will RG3 Get Them To The Playoffs, and Will Vick Get On A Team Again?

RG3 will bounce back. No question. He will have a better coach in Jay Gruden, who helped Andy Dalton to 2 stellar seasons. Mike Vick will not be on another team. After he struggled majorly in Philly, and his past history is bad, an unlikely future is certain for him.

Who Will Win XLIX In ‘Zona?

The New England Patriots will face off with the Seattle Seahawks. This will be another blowout Super Bowl. Final Score: 41-16, Seahawks.

Pro Bowl 2014

I guess Deion Sanders was right about he would dominate the draft, because he totally did. This unconferenced Pro Bowl will be a total domination by his team. Here is why.

Reason 1: Andrew Luck and Cam Newton

Andrew Luck might not look intimidating anymore after shaving off his beard, but he will still be running with the ball a lot, and we will see a lot of handoffs from him to Jamaal Charles. Cam Newton will be running with the ball a whole lot, too.

Reason 2: No Colin Kaepernick for Team Rice

Team Rice selected Drew Brees and Alex Smith as QBs over Colin Kaepernick, who was undrafted. This is a huge disappointment to many after seeing Kaepernick deliver a stellar season.

With all of this set in stone, Team Sanders has the clear edge. Final Score: 59-27, Sanders.

NFL Conference Championship Weekend

This is the weekend where teams will receive a ticket to MetLife Stadium for the Super Ice Bowl. Here are the predictions for who wins and who goes home.

New England Patriots @ Denver Broncos; 3:00PM EST

The Pats historical run without rook WR Aaron Dobson and star TE Rob Gronkowski has highlighted a team for the ages, with big plays from WR Julian Edelman and RB LaGarrette Blount. The Broncos got away with a huge game, with a 24-17 over the San Diego Chargers. The Patriots will go to MetLife Stadium. Final Score: 26-23, Patriots.

San Fransisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks; 6:30PM EST

The 49ers came away with huge wins over the Green Bay Packers, 23-20, and the Carolina Panthers, 27-10. The Seahawks survived after the the New Orleans Saints huge comeback, winning 23-15. The 49ers and Patriots will meet in a Clash of Clans at MetLife. Final Score: 30-23, 49ers.

The AFC Championship Game Prediction

The AFC Championship Game is all about Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos.

Quarter 1

Brady finds his spark early on. Manning is ice-cold. The defense comes out on fire, and Brady throws 2 TDs. The Pats take a 17-0 at the end of 1.

Quarter 2

Both QBs go cold. It is a disaster throughout this whole quarter. Brady and Manning lead the team to long field goal attempts. A back and forth, 3-and-out thing goes on for the whole quarter. At the half, Pats lead 23-12.

Quarter 3

In quarter 3, Broncos KR Trinton Holliday returns the kick return 100 yards for the score. The Pats go turnover after turnover, 3-and-out after 3-and-out. Broncos K Matt Prater kicks a field goal. After 45 minutes, Pats lead 23-22.

Quarter 4

The most crucial quarter of the AFC season. The Pats kick 2 quick field goals to give them a TD lead. Peyton Manning throws 3 INTs in their first 5 possessions. Tom Brady throws an INT, and CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie returns the pick 59 yards for the score. We’re tied at 29. Brady tries to help kill clock to get into field goal range. RB LaGarrette Blount fumbles the football on a crucial 3rd And Inches from the Broncos 32-yard line. With 1 minute left, Manning throws 4 first downs to Welker, Decker, DeMariyus Thomas, and Julius Thomas. It’s 1st And Goal from the Pats 4, and Bill Belichick call the Patriots final timeout, with 8 seconds left. Manning escapes all the pressure, and then finds RB Knowshon Moreno in the end zone with no time left.

Final Score: 36-29, Broncos!

The NFL Playoff Picture: Today – #Thanksgiving

This year is a year with new, rejuvenated teams, and many surprises to come your way this year during the playoffs. See who I think goes to the Super Bowl in East Rutherford, New York/New Jersey.

Wild Card NFC Matchup 1: San Francisco 49ers vs. Detroit Lions

The 49ers proved big in their win over the Redskins. QB Colin Kaepernick has returned to his old, 2012 self, and is proving his doubters wrong, and has ended his sophomore slump. WR Michael Crabtree is back! QB Matthew Stafford has been off the mark lately, and WR Calvin Johnson is not very healthy. WR Nate Burleson is out, and their defense is cheap, cannot handle anything. 49ers will go to Ford Field and take this one easy. Final Score: 27-14, 49ers.

Wild Card NFC Matchup 2: Carolina Panthers vs. Dallas Cowboys

Carolina is the surprise this year, making things unreal, and leaving opposing defenses clueless thanks to QB Cam Newton. QB Tony Romo and WR Dez Bryant is like the QB Troy Aikman and WR Michael Irvin duo from the 1990s. Both teams defenses need improvement, though the Cowboys have veterans on defense, who have playoff-winning experience. Final Score: 13-10, Cowboys.

Wild Card AFC Matchup 1: Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts are terrible compared to last year! Letting go of coach Bruce Arians was a terrible idea. Andrew Luck has been ice-cold, and WR Reggie Wayne and RB Vick Ballard are out for the season. The Titans are running with some Fitzmagic with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, and have the great sensation in TE Delanie Walker. This is no contest! Final Score: 44-3, Titans.

Wild Card AFC Matchup 2: Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Kansas City has had some ups to starts, and gone downhill from there. The Bengals have been the opposite. WR AJ Green is proving doubters wrong, becoming recognized as an elite WR in the NFL. Cincy has a slight upset. Final Score: 38-35, Bengals.

Divisional Round NFC Matchup 1: San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks have been the hardest matchup for Kaepernick in his career, and the Seahawks are big and talented, better than ever. QB Russell Wilson is great, but is in a sophomore slump, like Kaepernick. Do the 49ers have an upset? That’s a yes! Final Score: 30-27, 49ers.

Divisional Round NFC Matchup 1: Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints

The Cowboys got sent home with a 49-17 loss from the Saints, but Dez Bryant was not a target, despite the Saints not having CB Jabari Greer or SS Malcolm Jenkins covering him. Cowboys have the upset, due to the Saints lack of playoff wins. Final Score: 24-21, Cowboys.

Divisional Round AFC Matchup 1: Tennessee Titans vs. Denver Broncos

QB Peyton Manning and the Broncos have to beat Fitzmagic. Can they do it? Final Score: 28-27, Broncos.

Divisional Round AFC Matchup 2: Kansas City Chiefs vs. New England Patriots

The Patriots have had an up and down season, like the Chiefs, and they have ways of winning and losing. In this case, QB Tom Brady has a win on his mind. Final Score: 31-21, Patriots.

Conference Championship NFC Matchup: San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys

The 49ers and the Cowboys are the teams that would meet in conference championships in the ‘90s. We experience that in the 21st century for the 1st time. The 49ers shall return to the Super Bowl, and Romo, once again, will choke in the playoffs again, losing. Final Score: 27-3, 49ers.

Conference Championship AFC Matchup: New England Patriots vs. Denver Broncos

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning meet for the last time in Manning’s long career. Tom Brady is 10-4 vs. Manning in regular season games, and 2-1 vs. Manning in the playoffs. Manning’s career will come to an end. Final Score: 27-20, Patriots.

Super Bowl XLVIII: San Francisco 49ers vs. New England Patriots

The last time Kaepernick and Brady faced off in Boston, Kaepernick helped the 49ers win 41-34. It will be even bigger when they face off in the NFL’s biggest stage on February 2nd, 2014. Kaepernick led the 49ers to a comeback last year vs. Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XLVII, and they nearly won, but the Ravens won 34-31. When the Patriots played the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI, they lost 21-17. Kaepernick will push Brady to 3-3 in Super Bowl games. Final Score: 45-38, 49ers.

Which QB Will Start Week 1?

There are a lot of teams that need to decide who will be their QB. If I were the coach of the Arizona Cardinals, Philadelphia Eagles, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, or Buffalo Bills coach, here is who I would pick as my starter for Week 1 (begins September 5th).

Arizona Cardinals

Possible Options: Carson Palmer, Ryan Lindley

Week 1 Starter: Palmer is the obvious choice for this team, as he looked good during the teams OTAs by connecting with his receivers, and should have a monster season thanks to having Larry Fitzgerald and Malcolm Floyd as his top receivers.

Philadelphia Eagles

Possible Options: Matt Barkley, Mike Vick, Dennis Dixon, Nick Foles

Week 1 Starter: This is the toughest choice for any coach, but in the end, former Pac-12 QB Matt Barkley will fit in well to Chip Kelly’s offense due to the fact that at USC, Barkley had played against Kelly’s Oregon squad.

Oakland Raiders

Possible Options: Matt Flynn, Terrell Pryor, Tyler Wilson

Week 1 Starter: Matt Flynn will start Week 1 for the 2nd straight season on a team rebuilding mode.

New York Jets

Possible Options: Mark Sanchez, Greg McElroy, Geno Smith

Week 1 Starter: Geno Smith is the QB that the Jets have wanted for years. He is the franchise of the New York Jets, and this rookie out of West Virginia has the intangible to win as a starter, and he deserves it.

Jacksonville Jaguars:

Possible Options: Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne

Week 1 Starter: Henne will get the starting job for the 1st time since he was a Miami Dolphin in 2011.

New England Patriots

Possible Options: Tom Brady, Tim Tebow

Week 1 Starter: Tebow can start Week 1, but Brady will start until Week 15, and then Tebow can play Weeks 16 and 17 due to Brady resting for the playoffs. Though from Weeks 2-14, Brady will start, and Tebow could play running back, or be a receiver in the Wildcat formation.

Washington Redskins

Possible Options: Robert Griffin III (RG3), Kirk Cousins

Week 1 Starter: RG3 is the starter, but Cousins will play Weeks 16 and 17. Griffin III may be taken out of the game due to the repaired ACL, so Cousins could get multiple snaps time and time again, but he will not be the starter during many weeks of the season, and Cousins may see more playing time against tougher defenses because of the risk of having Griffin III re-injuring that ACL or other parts of the knee, and the risk of concussions is high. Griffin III is the tentative starter for the 1st half of the season, and would like to keep that, but Cousins will see a few 1st Down or 2nd Down snaps throughout the time when Griffin III will be starting games. Griffin III should have a 5,000-yard passing campaign due to the fact that he has many new targets in Devery Henderson, Jordan Reed, Chris Thompson, Skye Dawson, Chip Reeves, and Emmanuel Ogbuehi. Kirk Cousins could throw for about 1,000-2,000 yards if Shanahan thinks that he should be able to play. With this RG3-Kirk Cousins 1-2 punch, the Redskins could win 12+ games.

Minnesota Vikings

Possible Options: Matt Cassel, Christian Ponder

Week 1 Starter: Matt Cassel wins the job, though Ponder may see some action later in the season.

Cleveland Browns

Possible Options: Jason Campbell, Brandon Weeden

Week 1 Starter: Jason Campbell is a guy that has 1 difference from Weeden. He can throw the ball deep. He is an accurate passer who would mesh well with a speedy receiver like former Dolphins WR Davone Bess.

Miami Dolphins

Possible Options: Matt Moore, Aaron Corp, Ryan Tannehill, Pat Devlin

Week 1 Starter: Tannehill, the talented 2nd year player who will shine in his 2nd season with Mike Wallace and Dustin Keller as his top WRs/TEs.

Buffalo Bills

Possible Options: Kevin Kolb, EJ Manuel

Week 1 Starter: Kolb is the more experienced, but rookie Manuel out of Florida State is the favorite, and will excel as the starter with speedster WR/Slot Receiver Stevie (Steve) Johnson.

The AFC Playoff Predictions: After Week 17

The AFC has had many surprises which you won’t even believe would have happened even before the season started. Here is what I think will happen after Week 17.

Number 1: Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos are winners of 11 straight games. They are led by 4-time MVP Peyton Manning. Another key part of their success has been Eric Decker becoming Manning’s favorite target, and Von Miller and Co. getting some big stops on D. There is no one stopping ‘em now. Though, they will lose in the Divisional Round to the Colts 34-31.

Number 2: New England Patriots

The Patriots had a strong offseason after losing the Super Bowl, making Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley great replacements for BenJarvus Green-Ellis. They also got former Pat Jabar Gaffney, and Brandon Lloyd, who have had great seasons. They will lose to the Colts in the Divisional Round 31-29.

Number 3: Houston Texans

Houston has had the best season ever as a team. Arian Foster has improved, and Matt Schaub has played better than ever. On the D, JJ Watt is having a MVP-caliber season. This combo of offense and defense has made the Texans the most dangerous team in the NFL. They will lose to the Bengals in the Wild Card Round 31-10.

Number 4: Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens were the number 2 seed, then lost to the Steelers in OT 23-20, and the Redskins in OT 31-28. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed are aging, and Lewis is injured. Terrell Suggs hasn’t been able to lead the team on a struggling D, though Haloti Ngata and Lardarius Webb is a shut-down corner. Joe Flacco has had an all-over-the-place-styled-season. Ray Rice had carried this team to some big wins early in the season. They will lose to the Colts in the Wild Card Round 44-20.

Number 5: Indianapolis Colts

Andrew Luck has made the Colts forget about Peyton Manning, and also, he is playing just like Manning, leading his team to huge come-from-behind wins in the 4th quarter. Rookie Wide Receivers T.Y. Hilton and Donnie Avery have had spectacular seasons. Reggie Wayne had been criticized and many said he was to old to lead the team and play as Andrew Luck’s go-to guy, though he changed that this season. Former Baltimore Ravens Defensive End Corey Redding was signed to a $10.5 million dollar contract, and Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis have had some great seasons leading this always-brilliant D. They will make it to the Super Bowl, though lose 38-26.

Number 6: Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals were the 6th seed last year, and will repeat that same result. Andy Dalton, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, and AJ Green have had great seasons. They will lose in the Divisional Round to the Broncos 38-33.

2013-2014 Season NFL Draft: Top 5 Picks – Week 9 predictions

There are many players that we know of from college who can easily make it to the NFL. Here are my Top 5 draft picks, after week 9:

#1 Pick by the Kansas City Chiefs: Quarterback Geno Smith (West Virginia Moutaineers)

Geno Smith out of West Virginia is a player that reminds many of RG3 in Baylor and how he started off his NFL career with the Washington Redskins, as well as Donovan McNabb in Syracuse and in his early years as an Eagles player, and Andrew Luck in Stanford. Matt Cassel literally sucks, so don’t be surprised to see Smith in a red and white Chiefs uniform.

#2 Pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars: Quarterback Matt Barkley (USC Trojans)

It’s pretty obvious that Matt Barkley will go Number 2 (if he doesn’t go number 1), and he has shown us that so far. He plays like an NFL QB and he can make the right plays at the right time. The only reason that I wouldn’t put him as the number 1 pick is because he can’t escape from all the pressure that the defenses are giving him. Also, he got a lot of criticism after the USC Trojans lost to the Stanford Cardinal 21-14.

#3 Pick by the Cleveland Browns: Defensive End Barkevious Mingo (LSU Tigers)

The Cleveland Browns have one of the most explosive offenses in the league, but a defense that many coaches might not want to rely on. Mingo could very easily change that. Though, the Browns have to make the right pick, or else Mingo is out of the picture!

#4 Pick by the Carolina Panthers: Wide Receiver Keenan Allen (Cal aka California Golden Bears)

The Carolina Panthers don’t have a star wide receiver other than Steve Smith, so the speedy Allen out of Cal is the perfect choice. He has a 6’3”, 210 pound frame. He is one of the fastest wide receivers in the country. He has the explosiveness to make big catches, and the agility to make defenders miss. The Panthers can’t pass off on Allen, no matter what circumstances may lie in front of them.

#5 Pick by the Washington Redskins: Defensive End Sam Montgomery (LSU Tigers)

The Washington Redskins have a similar situation to what the Cleveland Browns are going through, so Montgomery is the perfect choice. Washington needs a player at defense so that he can fill in when players like Brian Orakpo or London Fletcher or anyone else gets injured, he can fill in. Though, he can still get valuable playing time even when there are no injuries (or any major injuries). He is a player who is very tough to block, and he is the best, most reliable pass-rusher in the country. The Redskins should definitely take advantage of this high pick to be able to get a player such as Sam Montgomery who can also play at the Left Outside Linebacker position. He played Left Outside Linebacker on many key and crucial 3rd down plays for LSU. He is a great pass-rusher who has the speed and power to get the job done for LSU defense (which was number 1 in the country in the 2011-2012 NCAA Football season) and possibly for the Washington Redskins defense (if he gets drafted by the team)!

Redskins vs. Giants: The NFC East Decider

The Washington Redskins are huge underdogs coming into this game, though my prediction is that these 2 teams will go 1-2 in the NFC East and ease into the playoffs. Whoever wins is No. 1 in the division, and the loser gets No. 2. This game is between 2 teams that have MVP-caliber quarterbacks in potential rookie of the year Robert Griffin III and 2-time Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning. This is a matchup of 2 QBs selected as either No. 1 or No. 2. This also features 2 teams that are tied for the 2nd highest points scored per game.

Key Matchups

RG3 vs. Eli Manning

In a matchup that is very important, this is what I expect.

RG3:

30-36, 309 yards, 1 TD, 12 carries, 100 yards, 1 TD

Griffin is going to have a fantastic performance against the Giants, a team that has just 3.5 sacks in the last 4 games and have one of the lowest amount of sacks by any defense.

Eli Manning

29-45, 305 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

Manning will have a great game, though not as spectacular as Griffin’s. Expect some struggles.

My call: The Redskins will win a close battle, winning 26-19.
